War Against the People focuses on the rise of 'securocratic war.' As hegemons at all levels of the world-system strive to secure both capitalist, and their own domination they combine militaries, security agencies and police forces into an effective instrument of what Jeff Halper calls 'global pacification'. In this book, Halper, an Israeli anthropologist and activist, casts Israel as a pivotal actor in enforcing global pacification. Examining the techniques and weaponry of securocratic war that Israel has developed over the past century in trying to pacify the Palestinians, particularly in the 'laboratory' of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Halper argues that Israel's strategy of 'globalising Palestine,' of exporting its model and instruments of control, provides crucial contributions to efforts at pacification on worldwide. The book provides a disturbing window into the workings of state violence and suggests ways in which activists can fight back.
